On Tuesday 6 May, the UK Government appointed a deposit management organisation for Deposit Return Schemes across England, Northern Ireland, and Scotland.
Paul Davies, Carlsberg Britvic’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “This is as a positive milestone to establish a functional circular economy for drinks containers.
“Carlsberg Britvic continue to support the rollout of a well-designed, clear and unified Deposit Return Scheme to increase recycling rates and the quality of recycled packaging materials.
“The deposit return scheme in Ireland has been a great success, and since its launch last February, the Irish scheme administrator estimates over 600 million plastic bottles and cans were brought back by people in Ireland, contributing to a more sustainable future.
“We are committed to working alongside industry and government to replicate this success in the UK.”
