Origin green

Origin green - working with nature

Britvic Ireland first became verified members of an Bord Bia's Origin Green Sustainability programme in 2014. We achieved accreditation again this year showing that our commitment to doing business in a sustainable way is recognised externally.

Origin Green is the only sustainability programme in the world that operates on a national scale, uniting government, the private sector, farmers and food producers. Companies who wish to be included in this programme submit a Sustainability Plan using an Origin Green template, and seeks targets and initiatives that are then independently verified, enabling producers to set and achieve measurable sustainability targets. Commitments are set under the Origin Green Charter in order to achieve measurable sustainability targets.

Britvic Ireland's Origin Green Sustainability Charter commitments include:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Reducing average water used to produce a litre of product
  • Reducing waste: Quality Control Returns, Stock Loss and Waste to Landfill
  • Reducing average calories consumed per serve
  • Launch of new products with no/low sugar
  • Raising awareness about and funds for Temple Street Children's Hospital through MiWadi Trick or Treat
  • Promoting active play for children through Fruit Shoot Mini-mudder and Ballygowan's partnership with the Dublin GAA Team

Britvic plc's 2020 goal of being trusted and respected in our communities is being measured by Business in the Community with a goal of a Four Star Corporate Responsibility rating by 2020. Our 2016 rating achieved 2.5 stars stands at two star; achieving 4 starts is within our reach if each business unit delivers its sustainability plans. Britvic Ireland's 2020 goal is being measured locally through our Origin Green accreditation.
