The company’s focus on ‘enabling’ employees is an essential part of the strategy according to Shaun O’Hara, head of people and organisational development. ‘We can only achieve growth, productivity and our corporate financial targets if our employees are motivated, developed and engaged in our business by inspirational leaders who coach every day,’ he says. The enabling pillar has four main aims. Here’s an overview of what’s happening:
Eighty of the company’s leaders attended a three-day Leadership Essentials workshop, which formed part of a long-term plan for growing great leaders. The emphasis was on giving leaders an opportunity to reflect on how they can improve their personal contribution and the day-to-day leadership of their teams.
All line managers attended a Managing Performance and Talent workshop, to help them understand how to use the company and functional scorecards to set their team’s objectives and development plans. Everyone received toolkits and line managers commited to engaging their teams on the game plan, scorecards and the Britvic DNA.
‘All of us have talent and can improve. Therefore, we want line managers to support employees in creating a development plan to help them learn and develop. In addition, we are in the second year of our talent review process to identify those individuals with potential to move or progress. Within the business, open discussions ensure that everyone gets feedback on their potential as part of their performance reviews,’ says Shaun O’Hara.
The Britvic DNA describes the behaviours employees need to demonstrate to secure the company’s future success. The same six behaviours apply to everyone in Britvic, with a common language and framework. Business change manager, Gillian Box, has led the development of the DNA and will be working with her colleagues in HR to support teams in bringing the DNA to life.
Did you know that Britvic’s Flexible Benefits and Family Friendly policies allows employees to tailor their benefits to what is important them, including childcare, healthcare, as well as offering flexible working hours and working from home options.
