Jennie Thrower - Commercial Analyst
Name: Jennie Thrower
Role: Commercial Analyst
Department: Finance
Joined Britvic: 2001
What she says: "Knowing I would be able to study to become a management accountant was a big incentive for joining Britvic in the first place and I am delighted at the opportunities and experience I have had since then."
In today’s fast moving consumer businesses, our finance team play a crucial and highly commercial role.
Although Jennie Thrower, a commercial analyst, is based in the finance department she works closely with colleagues in the brands marketing team.
"I work specifically with the marketing team responsible for the Robinsons family of products," she explains. "I feel as if I am a part of their team – I am like a permanent financial adviser and I can only play that role effectively if I fully understand the strategies and tactics for the brand.
"By being involved in brand strategies from the start, Jennie can play a proactive role in advising on financial matters and flagging up any potential cost issues early. "I am interested in the overall profitability of the brand and of each product variant.
"Jennie also works closely with members of the innovation team, working on new products and other developments. "It’s great to be involved in these projects from the start. For example, I get involved in project teams looking at different options for packaging, working out how the capital and production costs involved will affect the new brand’s profitability. And I get a real buzz from seeing the finished product on the supermarket shelf.
"The special innovation course that Jennie attended is not the only example of training and development that she has taken part in since she joined the company from university. Supported by Britvic, she also studied for her CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualification.
"It was hard work, but I was given a lot of support from Britvic."
